Thelma’s Story

My name is Thelma and yesterday I saw my name in the Personals column in the newspaper.

My husband was looking for me. He had called everyone trying to find out where I was—trying to get me to come back.

But he threatened me. He threatened me all the time. And this time I wasn’t going back.

I’m now at Bradley Angle—but nobody knows I’m here.

I feel good about being here. I’m so close to home, yet nobody can find me. It feels safe and secure here. I feel so much better since getting here.

My plan for the future is to get a divorce. I’m just waiting for the date to be set for the trial.

Then I hope to move back to my own home and take in other survivors. We can share our living costs and rebuild our lives together.
