Sex-Positive Parenting: Talking to Kids About Sex, Bodies, & Relationships

Sunday, September 13 | 11:00 am

She Bop hosts this class where you’ll build knowledge and skills that will help you talk about sexuality with the littles in your life with ease and confidence. We’ll go over what sexuality is (it’s a lot bigger than you might think!), why it’s so important to talk about it early and often, how to clarify your values, and exactly what kids need to know at what age. You’ll also learn a step-by-step process for answering even the toughest questions, get tips for starting conversations, and get a list of recommended resources for both kids and adults. Come with your questions and challenges so we can think through them together! This class will be most relevant to caregivers of 4-12 year olds, though others are also very welcome.

Rebecca Koon has been teaching sexuality for over 10 years to people of all ages. She got her start in Planned Parenthood’s education program, has trained reproductive health care providers, teachers, and other youth-serving professionals, and she’s been a labor doula and childbirth educator. She did graduate work in Women and Gender studies and brings an intersectional feminist approach to all of her work.
